Two days of chasing a mystery chirp ended only when the family stopped and questioned their assumptions. Scott draws the lesson for leaders: diagnose the right problem before adding effort, and seek wisdom first, as James 1:5 invites.
Purpose & Calling
Two years after leaving a 30-year career at Nationwide, Scott reflects on two jobs in two years, how much of his confidence rested on familiar terrain, and what the season taught him about surrender, identity, and God's provision.
Leadership
Drawing on decades in institutional investing and running hills in high school football, Scott explores why character, conviction, and calling are formed on the climb rather than on flat ground.
Stewardship & Multiplication
A reflection on generosity as flow rather than accumulation, from the feeding of the 5,000 to the Parable of the Talents, with a note on why healthy boundaries direct generosity toward real need.
Spiritual Formation
Nearly two years after leaving corporate work, a decision to downsize becomes a fresh lesson that surrender has layers, and that open hands are free to receive and to move when God leads.
Spiritual Formation
Scott looks back on his opening sprint of 2026: reading the whole Bible in 30 days, a 30-day season of fasting and prayer, and choosing his One Word, Illuminate, along with the unexpected doors God opened along the way.
Spiritual Formation
Scott shares his year-end reflection practice: remembering God's provision across the past twelve months and working through a simple set of written questions before setting a course for the new year.
Purpose & Calling
Scott reflects on the quiet restlessness that led him to step away from his career at Nationwide, and on the Parable of the Talents and Peter's call into deep water as pictures of trading control for trust.
Leadership
Moving from a titled corporate role into ministry without formal authority, Scott explores John Maxwell's line that leadership is influence, and Esther's courage as a picture of leading without position.
Purpose & Calling
The backstory behind Scott's transition: eight small decisions over 40 years, from striving for excellence in high school to giving up the good for the best, that made it possible to walk away from a corporate career.
